I stood awkwardly in Dr. Howl's chambers, shuffling my feet. He'd been gone for quite some time when the door suddenly opened and a boy about my age was pushed inside by Dr. Howl. I looked upon the boy in wonder. He had very long hair that reached down past his waist, a perfect blend of yellow and white with a silvery shine. His skin was as white as my bedsheets but his eyes were a very murky gray. I smiled at him as best I could, but his beauty was overwhelming.

“Kai, I would like you to meet your new friend, Nakia. Say hello, boys.” Dr. Howl's voice seemed oddly soft today.
Nakia stretched out a hand and I shook it, “Pleased to meet you, Nakia.” My voice came out rushed and my words seemed to crowd together.
“The pleasure is mine, Kai.” His voice was soft and his words smooth, as if someone had oiled his throat. Nakia released my hand, both of us slightly flushed.
“Very good. What pleasant young men you're growing up to be!” The doctor spoke, delighted, “Kai, you and Nakia shall be sharing a room, so run along, get settled, and then go out and play with the other children.” I nodded as Nakia did the same. Dr. Howl smiled and opened the door for us with a graceful bow.

I led Nakia down a series of long hallways and staircases until we finally reached my -our- bedroom. Entering, I noticed that another bed lay across the room from mine. The room was just like the rest of my huge home, plain white.
“I guess this is where you'll sleep...” My voice seemed rather unsure. Nakia flopped down onto his bed and laughed suddenly. “You're wondering what I can do. The Doctor told me that you're like that Toby kid, and you can move yourself and others through the fourth dimension.” He giggled. I shrugged.
“Yes, amongst other things. Aerokinesis is a plus.” I smiled at him.
“I have been taught pyrokinesis, basic telekinesis, and I have excellent observational skills.”
